Beijing style Rose Mooncake — A taste of Old Beijing

Celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival with a collection from Beijing Daoxiangcun (北京稻香村), a renowned Chinese heritage pastry brand whose story dates back to 1895, when founder Guo Yusheng brought southern-style confectionery traditions to Beijing and opened the original Daoxiangcun Nanhuo Dian near Qianmen. Over more than a century, the brand gradually blended these techniques with Beijing’s own culinary traditions, helping shape the distinctive world of Jing-style pastries and mooncakes.

This collection offers four classic flavors, each reflecting a different facet of traditional Chinese pastry-making:

Unlike the glossy, richly oily Cantonese-style mooncake, the traditional Jing-style mooncake is appreciated for its more rustic pastry character, aromatic fillings, and layered textures. Beijing Daoxiangcun is particularly known for preserving traditional Jing-style mooncake techniques; its hand-crafted Jing-style mooncake-making tradition was recognized as an intangible cultural heritage project in Beijing in 2017.
